Description: A Storage Tank Location is a DEP primary facility type, and the storage tanks at the facility are the sub-facilities. Active storage tanks are aboveground or underground tanks regulated under the Storage Tank and Spill Prevention Act (35 P.S. §6021) and 25 Pa. Code Chapter 245. Active storage tanks are in a status of “currently in use” or “temporarily out of use”, which means the tanks still exist in a regulated status. These tanks are currently registered to hold a regulated substance, which could be a petroleum product or a hazardous substance. Aboveground storage tanks with a capacity greater than 21,000 gallons, and aboveground storage tanks that contain highly hazardous substances, are removed from this layer.
